Privacy Policy

BareTracks (“we”, “us”) is an in-browser stem mixer for musicians at baretracks.app. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and what we do with it.
1. What we collect
- Account information. When you sign up, we store the email address (and name, if you sign in with Google) you give us via our authentication provider.
- Subscription information. If you subscribe to Pro or Studio, our payment processor stores your billing address, payment method, and transaction history.
- Usage data. Vercel Analytics counts page views and referrers. It does not use cookies, and it does not track individuals across sites.
- Stem access logs. When you play or download a stem as a paid subscriber, we log your user ID, subscription tier, the song and stem requested, your IP address, your user-agent, and a timestamp. We use these logs only to detect abuse and to debug playback issues. Logs are retained for 30 days.
- Listen counts.When you play a song (free or paid), we increment an aggregate counter of how many times you’ve played that song. We use this to understand which music our subscribers like and to power the “popular” sort. No per-session timestamps are stored beyond “last played” for each song. This data is kept as long as you have an account and deleted when you delete your account.
- Song requests.If you submit a song via “Request a Song,” we store the artist, title, and (optionally) your email so we can tell you when it lands in the catalog.
- Liked Songs. Stored against your account so they persist between sessions.
- Preferences. If you tell us your role during onboarding (vocalist, drummer, guitarist, bassist, or fan), we store it on your account so we can tailor recommendations.
We do not collect: your location (beyond the country-level signal implicit in an IP), your keystrokes, your microphone audio, or anything else not listed above. We do not sell, rent, or share data with ad networks.
2. What we use it for
- Authenticating you and showing your subscription state.
- Charging you, if you subscribe.
- Operating the service.
- Aggregate analytics.
- Replying to song requests, support emails, or DMCA notices you send us.
3. Who we share it with
We don’t sell, rent, or trade your information. We do use these sub-processors:
- Clerk — authentication. Stores your email + login history. Clerk privacy policy.
- Stripe — payments. Stores your billing details. Stripe privacy policy.
- Vercel — hosting + analytics. Vercel privacy policy.
- Cloudflare — DNS and stem audio storage (R2). Cloudflare privacy policy.
- Upstash — operational state (play counts, request queue, per-user quotas). Upstash privacy policy.
We may also disclose information when required by law (subpoena, court order) or to protect our rights — and we’ll tell you about it unless legally barred from doing so.
4. Cookies
We use cookies for two things only:
- Authentication. Our auth provider sets a session cookie so you stay logged in.
- Stripe checkout. Stripe sets cookies on its own checkout page for fraud prevention.
5. Data retention
We keep your account information as long as you have an account. If you delete your account, we delete your account data within 30 days, except where we’re required to retain it (e.g. payment records for tax purposes).
6. Your rights
You can:
- Access the data we have about you — email support@baretracks.app and we’ll send it within 30 days.
- Deleteyour account and everything tied to it. Email us, or use the “Delete account” option in the Clerk user menu (top right of the site).
- Cancel your subscription anytime via the Stripe Customer Portal — link from /account.
- Object to any of this — email us.
7. Children
BareTracks is not intended for children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, email us and we’ll delete the account.
8. International users
Our servers are in the United States. If you use BareTracks from outside the US, your data is processed in the US under our sub-processors’ standard contractual clauses. By using BareTracks, you consent to that.
9. Changes
We’ll update this page when our practices change. The “Last updated” date at the top tracks the most recent change. Material changes will be announced via email to active subscribers at least 30 days before they take effect.
